National Gallery of Art

This is one of the doors of the National Gallery of Art on the Constitution Avenue side.  The reflection is looking north across Constitution Avenue.  The building was completed in 1941.  It was designed by John Russell Pope, who also designed the Jefferson Memorial.  The endowment and initial collection were from Andrew W. Mellon.  Both Mellon and Pope died in 1937, shortly after construction had started on the building.
