1100 16th Street NW has been for sale or lease through the Rock Creek Property Group, with the interior having been gutted and remodeled in March 2013. The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman has applied to the D.C. zoning board to acquire the building to use as the Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center. The area is in a zone which allows diplomatic missions.
The building was constructed in 1936, for the Benjamin Franklin University, a school for accounting and financial management.
