The Decatur Apartments are at 2131 Florida Avenue. The doors have octagonal glass insets which reflect the view across the street.
One of the most famous residents was Lucy Mercer, who lived there during the Wilson administration and WWI, from approximately 1913-1918. Franklin Roosevelt was the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Wilson, and lived nearby on R St. Lucy Mercer became the social secretary for Eleanor Roosevelt in 1914. Her long-term affair with Franklin Roosevelt is believed to have begun in 1916, and been discovered by Eleanor Roosevelt in 1918.
