The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency building, at First and M St. SE, was vacated in 2011 and is scheduled for complete tear-down in 2014. The building had been an imposing, secretive, and guarded building. In the fall of 2013, seven artists were invited to paint large murals on the building before it is demolished. The public art project, called Art Yards, began with artist Kelly Towles pouring 111 gallons of paint down the M St. side of the building, some of which is visible in this image of the roof over one of the doors.
