1101 11th St. NW is vacant, with a barbed wire fence around it, and fake paper facades put in front of some of the windows. Since 2003, it has been owned by Douglas Development. It was the home of Civil War Brigadier General Allen at some time in the late 1800’s.
Dec. 2015 update: After many years of standing idle, construction has now begun on the building. It is slated to become a Moxy Hotel, a chain of micro-hotels by Marriott. Douglas Development will restore the historic facade, and combine it with the building next door, along with a high-rise building constructed adjacent, to form the hotel.
