Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Monastery, at 3900 13th St. NE, is a monastery of the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration. The Poor Clares were founded by Clare of Assisi and Francis of Assisi in 1212, and are a Catholic order of contemplative nuns. There are currently more than 20,000 nuns in this order, in 75 different countries. At this D.C. location, the nuns support the local religious community with prayers and work, including doing the laundry for the Eucharist ceremonies at nearby parishes and religious communities.
3900 13th St. was built in 1925 as a large house, and with additions it has 12,000 sq. ft.
