Embassy of Canada

The Embassy of Canada is at 501 Pennsylvania Avenue NW.  It was designed by architect Arthur Erickson, and completed in 1989. The building is in a modern style, with a facade of unpolished white Canadian marble.  To reflect its commitment to the environment, Canada took measures to make the building green, and it received a silver LEED certificate in 2014.

It is the only embassy on Pennsylvania Avenue near the Capitol, representing the close ties between the U.S. and Canada.  The ceremonial entrance to the building sits back from Pennsylvania Avenue, up a large flight of stairs in a large courtyard with a columned rotunda.   These doors are from the ground level on the street, the only entrance directly on Pennsylvania Avenue.
