About

Doors of D.C. is a project by Victoria Pickering, started on January 1st, 2014.

I’m an avid photographer of the D.C. area.  On this site, I’m confining myself to showing only doors, and only those within the D.C. boundaries.  Despite this limitation, it seems unlikely that I will run out of subject matter as there are approximately 145,000 addresses listed in the master D.C. database.

D.C. architecture is only one of the things I like to photograph in the city.  I’m often out photographing protests:

or street performers:

or events, like:

Cupid's Undie Run - a charity event

or

Sakura Matsuri - a Japanese street festival on Pennsylvania Avenue

or

And of course I love New York City, but I’m not going to publish any New York doors here, except for this great one:

My other passion is web technologies – I’m active as a web developer, specializing in WordPress (more about that at my company Design Reinvented.)

My full set of images can be seen on Flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/vpickering/.  I’m also an avid user of Instagram – find me as vpickering.  And my general website, which contains photography as well as other things, is at victoriapickering.com
